SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email security system, that is used to validate if an email message is sent by an authorized server. Using SPF protection for a domain will stop the forging of emails made with the domain. In layman's terms: activating this feature for a domain generates a special record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes using the domain. When this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through tests if it comes from an accredited server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, yet if it does not come from a server part of the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody can mask an e-mail address then make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

You can activate the SPF protection service for your domains with a couple of clicks from the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all our shared hosting. This is performed via the section bearing the same name and you can set up the protection for each and every domain name hosted on our innovative cloud hosting platform. Using a really convenient interface, all you will have to type in is the hostname of the mail server which will be authorized to send out messages from your email addresses and its IPv4 or IPv6 address. Last, but not least, it is possible to include several servers as well, if needed. When your emails are handled by us, you may also use an even more secure option by placing a restriction that messages can be sent only when your domains include our MX records. This option cannot be applied when your website is hosted here, and the e-mail addresses are with some third-party supplier. Either way, the SPF protection solution will greatly improve your online protection and stop others from spoofing your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, that is included with all our semi-dedicated servers, will provide you with an extremely easy-to-use interface to enable the SPF security service for every domain that you host inside your new account. A couple of clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that and you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your emails. In case the emails are taken care of by us and not by some other provider, you'll be able to raise the security level even more and enable an option for all of the outgoing email messages to be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option provides you with increased control and it'll eliminate any possibility of anybody counterfeiting your e-mail addresses with the purpose of spamming and / or scamming people. It's not applicable if just your site is hosted on our outstanding cloud website hosting platform, while your email addresses are handled by some other provider. If you are not sure what features to select, our tech support team will assist you 24/7.
