Whenever you add a domain as hosted in some account, you usually set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular service provider. On their end, 3 records are created automatically as soon as the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that handles the e-mails for that specific domain address. The site and the e-mail hosting are typically thought to be one thing, when they are in reality two different services. Having different records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you would like. For instance, some new service provider can have excellent uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain to the former and MX records to have the emails with the second, you can get the best of both companies. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an email - in any case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain name will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you're going to see the needed site or your email is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, that comes with each and every shared hosting we offer you, allows you to view, change and create A and MX records for any domain name or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to view a list of all hosts in the account from a to z with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Setting up new records is just as simple if, for example, you want to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. You may also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your emails are delivered, the sending server is going to contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you'll be able to manage the records of your domains and subdomains with ease even if you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our semi-dedicated servers, will enable you to view the A and MX records for each of the domains or subdomains in your account and if required, to change any of them or create new ones. Handling these records is very easy because all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes only a few more clicks and in case you experience any issues, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet advanced enough to give you complete control over all records and to permit you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're moving your e-mails to a different service provider and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
