Website Migration
-
Q: What exactly does web site migration mean and what does it involve?
A: If your current hosting provider can no longer satisfy the needs of your website, or if you face continual network downtime, or if you have to wait for hours for the client care team to get back to you, it may be a clever idea to change your hosting provider, i.e. to transfer all the files for your web sites together with your databases from your present provider to your new provider. At Site Brand It, we know that this can often be hard and time–consuming. That’s why we will do all that for you at no cost! Our highly accomplished technical staff members will migrate your web site content from your present hosting provider to us. Our techs have extensive experience migrating web sites and can handle anything – from an average WordPress weblog or Joomla™–driven web site, to a highly complex, custom–made web app.
-
Q: Just how long will it take for my website to be transferred over to your platform?
A: While we cannot give you an exact time window, since there are lots of factors, among them the physical size of the web files and databases, the location of the present host’s server, the complexity of your web site and the present workload of our Website Migration Department, etc., we’ll do our very best to move your web site within 48h, and in certain cases – within 24h (when the website content is not very large).
-
Q: Do you need anything from me before you start transferring my website?
A: Yeah. We will require the name of the web site that you want us to move. We’ll also require a way to log in to your current web hosting account so that we can get the content pertaining to your site.
-
Q: My old web hosting account has sensitive data inside. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the agreement that we’ll have with you as a client. We’re focused on safeguarding the safety of the private data collected from the clients. For this purpose, we use technical security measures so as to avoid the loss, the misuse, the alteration or the unauthorized disclosure of the private details under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the info that we accumulate on the World Wide Web. When we request users to supply financial info (such as a debit card number), this info is protected using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology.
-
Q: How about downtime? Will my web site be offline?
A: While we migrate your website, it will be available both in your web hosting account with us and in your account with your old hosting provider. As soon as the migration is done, we will ensure that everything is working correctly and that the integrity of your data is not jeopardized prior to informing you that the transfer is done. Then we will instruct you how to move the domain over to your hosting account with us and how to modify your DNS resource records.
-
Q: Will my old hosting provider need to do anything?
A: Nope. Aside from your login credentials for the Control Panel, we will not require anything. We will never touch base with your hosting provider. They won’t know anything about the transfer either.
-
Q: Which hosting providers can you migrate website content from?
A: We can transfer your website from any hosting provider or any Linux–powered hosting platform provided that we can get access to the Control Panel and there’s FTP access available. The only sites that we cannot migrate are the ones based on closed–source software applications such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.
